This event endeavors to provide a visually & physically immersive Vietnam War-aka-”Namsoft”-themed adventure driven airsoft experience. Forces involved include the available choices of US ARMY, US NAVY-sub categories of SeaBee, UDT, USMC, ANZAC & South Vietnamese Army along with Marine components. A deeply entrenched band of Viet Cong & NVA oppositional forces await your arrival seeking to drive the USGI back from where they came. The scenario is based upon operations in Vietnam War History such as: Operation Jackstay, Game Warden, Dagger Thrust, Market Time & Clear Water; though not beholden to any dedicated historical outcome, lending to fluid gameplay.
"The Delta" & the Rung Sat Special Zone areas historically posed one of the greatest challenges to the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV) and the Government of South Vietnam (RVN) during the entirety of the United States involvement in the Vietnam War. Rung Sat literally means "assassins' forest" or "dense mangrove swamp," and received its name because of the bandits, pirates and rebels who once used this swamp as their base area; they stopped commercial boats, robbed the passengers, and levied taxes against them. Historically the area was renowned for skullduggery 100 years before western involvement is South East Asia.
Our "Rung Sat" is 140 acres of densely forested land, as well as extensive swamps & waterways. The area at the mouth of the Dong Tranh -(North Branch Millers River)- is designated US territory & the open area of water -( Converse Meadow Pond)- is designated as the South China Sea. There are numerous small streams and mud flats where the entire area is overgrown with dense trees and thick brush. The terrain varies from swamp land to elevated hills. Amongst them are established roads and numerous highly contested foot trails on both sides of the Dong Tranh river.
Operation Homestead will be conducted surrounding as well as within the area known as “The Forest of Assassins” and will be a series of Search and Clear Interdiction missions & Search & Destroy land based and amphibious actions made by Army, Navy, Marine Corps & ARVN/VNMC units along the north side of the Dong Tranh river. The goal of this is to intercept supplies and halt the movements of the Viet Cong and the North Vietnamese forces that have been operating from this area. This will be accomplished by collecting intelligence, then employing US & VN forces to close with and destroy the enemy, as well as goods and resources; thereby denying a haven for their activity. Emanating from Camp Fisk, scheduled & surprise raids will involve all elements landing from amphibious boats and/or transported by land via vehicle to their infil locations. All units will seek out and/or set ambushes for the Viet Cong/NVA along the beaches, river, trails and forest including, within nearby villages. Actions will include: Interdiction on land & on water, security patrols of the MSR leading to the Dho Long bridge & Dong Hoa strategic hamlet, close-in perimeter patrols of Camp Fisk & Dho Long bridge outpost, fixed position ambush, reconnaissance, perimeter guard duties, resupply & security patrols in support of ANZAC forces occupying FSB Albrecht, & of course- Firewatch. Search & Destroy patrols, Ambush & Reconnaissance missions will be assigned by branch & unit command only.
Early arrival is set and available on Thursday June 27th after 1200 (noon). Gate registration starts Friday June 28th at 0700-but early arrival is OK- we will be there. Look for the modern “pop-up” tents in the parking lot. Scenario commences Friday June 28th at 1400 hrs. and continues on to 1400 Sunday-with player consensus, June 30th.
